insurance for moped in uk

December 27th, 2007 by The Rider

what is needed to ride a moped??

I am 18, in the UK and have recently got a provisional licence. I am thinking of getting a moped for work.

I have riden 120cc bikes before but not on main roads. So i do know how to ride a bike!

But, this time, i am looking for the most cost effective one and i guess it will a moped.

What do i need to do before getting a moped on road?

Do i have to do CBT tests?

Do i need insurance for moped?

some website say under 50cc mopeds do not need CBT test, is this true?

please help me out. cheers

You will need

C.B.T.
Insurance
Get a decent helmet, jacket, trousers and gloves.

And as others have said go for a 125 as mopeds are a …. liability.

Also make sure you have road tax and if the bike is over 3 years old (from date of registration) you will need an M.O.T. certificate for it.
