What should I know about before buying a moped?

I am thinking about buying a used moped/scooter and I have never owned or driven one before. What do I need to know before a purchase one? I’m looking to buy one to get me back and forth to school and work as I live in a small college town. Do I need special license or insurance?

You should know that you will not be getting any women riding a moped. Well, maybe some fat ones.
