road legal quad bike insurance
Can i ride a Quad Bike on-road legally?

I just wanted to know, if i went through all the necessary training to ride safely, got a driver’s license, took Quad-Biking lessons, got my insurance/put an MOT on the Bike, and got all the safety gear on, will it be legal to ride on the road?

I’ve been hearing lots of people saying that Quad-Bikes can only be riden on private property or whatever. They also say, that Quad-Bikes are not legal for road use.

BTW i live in the UK!

I am sure you can, but it has to be a road legal quad with lights (headlight, brake light and reverse light), indicators, tax and MOT.

I have never seen a road legal quad on the road. I assume that the reason is because it is costly to get them made road legal, their handling on the road is not good and they are slow.

I would contact the Department of vehicles and licensing and double check, as there would be restrictions on where you could drive it (there is no way you could take one on a motorway for example)
