do we need a special driver licent or insurance to opporate a scooter?

I m planning to purchase a scooter because it more enviroment friendly and save alot of gas money. the only thing i m not really sure is… do we have to have a special licent to opporate it.. i have heard from some people that we don’t have to have a licent to opporate one. HUhh.. i m just not really sure.. feel lazy to go to DMV because of the line.. I m live in NC by the way. .

Could be different in your state, but you don’t need a special license in california to drive a scooter. you will save money on gas, but remember you can’t go on the freeway, so that might effect how long your commute is, and how much gas you use. You do need to insure it though.
