best motorcycle insurance california

I want a motorcycle…some advice please?

I’m gonna need a vehicle to get to work and school…I want a motorcycle instead of a car because I think they’re just sooo cool! Also gas would be cheaper. A few questions…

1)Is it true insurance for motorcycles is a lot cheaper (in general) then for cars?

2)What’s the difference between a cruiser, a street bike, and a sport bike? Which is best for someone who’s basically just gonna use it to drive around, not for any stunts or anything?

3)I know this is kind of random…but does the helmet and jacket get really hot? I’m living in Southern California.

1yes motorcycles are usually much cheaper than cars im not sure whats available in california but just call any insurance agent and they could give you a quote even before you buy the motorcycle, this is a good idea because some bikes will cost a lot more than others to insure
2 a cruiser is going to be a heavier big bike such as a harley davidson, kawasaki 4s, etc etc. a sport bike is your CBR,GSXR,ZX,and the yamaha R series would be the most common these bike are your zippy lightweights that really move and handle well. These bikes are usually refered to as street bikes as well but pretty much any bike with a plate on it is a street bike
3. yes of course they make you hot but they make coats for every season(lightweight, and thin to thick and heavy) helmets these days actually have good venting systems to keep your head not sweating to bad but its still warm in there.

motorcycle insurance basics

February 5th, 2010 by The Rider

Where can I find cheap motorcycle insurance in florida?

I am looking to finanace a bike, and need to find some insurance. Most of the quotes I have gotten have been at least $400 a month. I am trying to find something a lot cheaper. Do you have to have full coverage when financing or can you just get basic coverage like collision or something like that?

WOAH! Sounds to me like you’re looking to insure a “crotch rocket”!!

Back up, re-group and reconsider buying a cruiser. Your age and riding experience (ON THE ROAD) count a lot also.

A good rule of thumb is to remember this: the closer you have to get to the horizontal position to ride the bike, the HIGHER your premiums will be! So, the closer you come to an upright riding position, the LOWER your premiums will be.

Yamaha had a program that if you finance LESS than $10,000 – they were NOT requiring physical damage insurance. YOU are STILL responsible for the damage (AND the loan value) if something happens to the bike. You are actually “self insuring” which is the CHEAPEST way to go, but, not always the most economical!

Look around for an independent agent in your area that specializes in bike insurance. In FL, look for the Specialty Insurance Agents logo and you should be able to find someone to help! There are several companies that specialize in or have competitive M/C insurance rates – Progressive, Dairyland, AIG, Foremost, American Modern Home, GMAC (in some States) just to name a few. The is also an internet provider that is something like BIKELINE (sp?)

Good luck, ride RESPONSIBLY and I hope this helps!

motorcycle insurance rates california
Motorcycle insurance?

I live in Southern California, what insurance compnay can I contact that will provide really cheap motorcycle insurance. Some of the rates out there are unbelieveable

Depends how old you are, and what kind of bike you would like to insure.. I am 22, and I pay $40/month for my 04 CBR 600rr.. I went to some of the other listed companies, most wouldn’t even touch me, others gave me rates like 2000-4000/year. Good luck!
