best motorcycle insurance california

I want a motorcycle…some advice please?
I’m gonna need a vehicle to get to work and school…I want a motorcycle instead of a car because I think they’re just sooo cool! Also gas would be cheaper. A few questions…
1)Is it true insurance for motorcycles is a lot cheaper (in general) then for cars?
2)What’s the difference between a cruiser, a street bike, and a sport bike? Which is best for someone who’s basically just gonna use it to drive around, not for any stunts or anything?
3)I know this is kind of random…but does the helmet and jacket get really hot? I’m living in Southern California.
1yes motorcycles are usually much cheaper than cars im not sure whats available in california but just call any insurance agent and they could give you a quote even before you buy the motorcycle, this is a good idea because some bikes will cost a lot more than others to insure
2 a cruiser is going to be a heavier big bike such as a harley davidson, kawasaki 4s, etc etc. a sport bike is your CBR,GSXR,ZX,and the yamaha R series would be the most common these bike are your zippy lightweights that really move and handle well. These bikes are usually refered to as street bikes as well but pretty much any bike with a plate on it is a street bike
3. yes of course they make you hot but they make coats for every season(lightweight, and thin to thick and heavy) helmets these days actually have good venting systems to keep your head not sweating to bad but its still warm in there.
